Jay Jean
Jay Jean is a quickly emerging Korean-American actress with an atypically typical background in engineering. Jean started acting in 2021, and within six months she booked her first little role in a big movie as Cassidy in the Netflix romantic comedy, The Perfect Find (2023).
Jean was born in New York City to two South Korean immigrants. Exhausted with living in poverty in South Korea, Jean's parents took an immense leap of faith to move to the United States to pursue the American Dream. Jean's parents spent over 12 hours per day working in the Garment District to realize this dream for their children. Jean was mainly raised in Bergen County, New Jersey while frequently tagging alongside her parents to their workplace in NYC. She would entertain herself with T.V., books, martial arts, and piano. Some of Jean's early influences include Will Smith, Quentin Tarantino, Ian McKellen, Jackie Chan, Jim Carrey, and R.L Stine.
Jean attended Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey, where she earned her Bachelor of Engineering, B.E., in Mechanical Engineering, and Master of Engineering, M.E., in Systems Engineering. She pursued a career in defense contracting. In 2019, Jean took a break from engineering and moved to Australia to study graphic design. After completing her design studies, Jean went on a road trip up the eastern coast of Australia with no destination in mind. She ended up working as a farmhand at an organic fruit plantation and as an alt bartender throughout the road trip. Since her return back home, Jean has been consistently auditioning and taking acting classes to develop and nurture her craft.
