Born on 4th of March in Mumbai, Jayant Gilatar has always been passionate about movies. He dared to leave a promising job at a bank and plunged himself into the world of Cinema. Beginning his film career as the 4th Assistant to Director K. Ravishankar, Jayant quickly rose through the ranks with his obvious talent, surpassing many of his contemporaries and turned into an independent director. He has worked as a Director with Mithun Chakraborty twice. Jayant has more than 2 decades of experience in all aspects of cinema; from writing to direction and recently, production. He has founded the production house 'JJ Creations'. Having directed more than 4000 television episodes for various channels, Jayant is a name to reckon with in the world of television. His first TV Serial 'Akbar-Birbal' starring Vikram Gokhale and Anang Desai was a hit and has the unique distinction of being translated into 68 languages by Zee TV. Recently, Jayant was asked by the Central Government to make a documentary on the occasion of 150 years of the Income Tax Department. He wrote and directed this with the cast of Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Aamir Khan and the President of India Pranab Mukherjee, narrated by Om Puri. Jayant's current project is a touching subject dealing with the life and hardships of teachers. It includes Shabana Azmi, Juhi Chawla, Divya Dutta, Zarina Wahab, Jackie Shroff, Samir Soni and Anupam Kher in the cast.
