Sanjoy Nag

Sanjoy Nag, born and raised in Kolkata, started out with documentaries before branching out to feature films. His debut feature 'MEMORIES IN MARCH',(with Deepti Naval, Raima Sen & Rituparno Ghosh) won the National Award for the Best English film 2010 and was also a part of the Indian Panorama at IFFI, Goa 2011. It was world premiered at the Pusan International Film Festival 2010, South Korea in 2010 and subsequently screened at MAMI, Mumbai; Kerala International FF at Trivandrum; MIACC, New York (where it won the best Screenplay Award); Durban International FF, Chennai Int. FF; Pune International FF; Gold Coast FF (New York); London Indian FF; Melbourne and Sydney Film Festivals, Spain (Deepti Naval was awarded the Best Actress), among others. His second feature 'PARAPAAR', based on a Moti Nandy novel in Bengali, has had a 100 day run in the theatres. He closely collaborated with Rituparno Ghosh in "JEEVAN SMRITI", a film based on Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, playing the bard himself onscreen. He was also the co-director of "CHITRANGADA". He was last seen onscreen as Debendranath Tagore in "KADAMBARI" directed by Suman Ghosh. Next up is "SHAHEB BIBI & GOLAAM" directed by Pratim D. Gupta.
