Diogo Morgado

While his acting debut was at the age of 15, Diogo Morgado later became known internationally for his groundbreaking portrayal of "Jesus" in 20th Century Fox's feature film "Son of God" and in The History Channel's highly rated, Emmy-nominated miniseries "The Bible." Morgado's recent work includes the lead role in the Netflix original feature film "The Killer," which was streamed in over 190 countries. On television, Diogo had a recurring role on CBS' "CSI: Cyber," alongside Academy Award-winning actress Patricia Arquette, and starred in the TV movie, "Love Finds You In Valentine." Morgado was also a lead on the CW Network series "The Messengers." In addition to his work in television, Diogo has had leading roles in independent films in the U.S., including the action-driven adrenaline film "Born to Race: Fast Track," and the gritty urban drama "Red Butterfly." In his native Portugal, where he is already a household name and one of GQ's "Men of the Year," Morgado's career spans top television, film and stage productions, including a lead role in the #1 rated Portuguese television series and International Emmy-winner "Laços de Sangue." Diogo began his career at the age of fifteen when he joined the cast of the top rated television series "Terra Mãe," But it was his breakthrough performance as "Miguel" in "Amo-Te, Teresa," which still remains as one of Portugal's highest rated telefims ever, that Diogo earned high praise as one of the most promising actors of his generation. Diogo has worked consistently in Portuguese television since, in over 15 series regular roles, including his memorable performance as "Santiago Medina" in the hugely successful series, "Vingança." Morgado's film credits include a noteworthy performance as Portuguese dictator Antonio De Oliveira Salazar in the acclaimed feature film "A Vida Privada De Salazar." Diogo was able to showcase his comedic chops in "O Crime do Padre Amaro," which received international attention from directors all over the world. Diogo starred in another hit comedy film, "Virados do Avesso," which debuted at the top of the Portuguese box office. Diogo is also a passionate theater actor and has had lead roles in prestigious plays such as David Hare's "Skylight" and Peter Shaffer's "The Royal Hunt to the Sun." Beyond Portugal and the United States, Morgado has had lead roles in such international films as Spain's "Dos Rivales Casi Iguales," "Mami Blue," and "Star Crossed," as well as Brazil's "Revelação" and "The Jungle." Morgado divides his time between Los Angeles and Lisbon, where he has begun pursuing his passion behind the camera as well -- writing and directing both English and Portuguese films, including the recent award-winning short film, "Signal."
